Alienware’s Redesigned Aurora Gaming Desktop is now Available

The Dell brand has released both the Intel-powered Aurora R13 and the AMD-based Aurora Ryzen Edition R14. The Intel variant now sports 12th generation core processors, ranging from a 10-core 3.7GHz Core i5, through to an unlocked 16-core, 3.2GHz Core i9K and i9KF.

For both builds, the highest-rated power supply options sit at 750W Platinum for both builds. As for storage – you can choose up to a 2TB NVMe M.2 PCle SSD and a 2TB SATA HDD (the same for the R13 and R14). Both models ship with Windows 11.

How Much Will The New Aurora’s Set You Back?

Spec’d out with a core i9 12900K and an RGTX 3090, you’re looking at an intimidating $4,557. On the other side of the coin, you can pick up an Aurora R13 with a Core i5 1200KF and GeForce GTX 1650 Super from $1,450.

As for the AMD machine, you’re looking at a starting price of $1,250.

Although the new gaming desktops will set you back a pretty penny, the new Auroras do come with the new Legend 2.0 chassis, featuring a redesigned layout that maximizes airflow efficiency. If you want to show off your next-gen hardware, there’s also the option of having a neat little side window; for this option you’re looking at adding an extra $70 to your purchase.

The 12th Gen Alder Lake chip means that the R13 has access to more hardware options in comparison to the R14. Where the R13 is capable of supporting up to 128GB of DDR5 RAM, the R14 only supports up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM. With the R13, you also get the option of installing the Cryo-Tech Special Edition CPU liquid cooler.

With regards to the R14, the processor is not the only thing that is different about this machine compared to its Intel counterpart. The R13 is available in ‘lunar light’ (white) and ‘dark side of the Moon’ (black), whereas the R14 can only be purchased in black. Aesthetic differences aside, the R14 will still feature the Legend 2.0 case.
