Google Introduces Vehicle Ad Formats on Search

Google has added vehicle ads, a new ad format on Search that shows nearby cars for sale.

With 89% of new car buyers turning to the web to find and research their new vehicle, shoppers expect an easy and helpful experience when they search what to buy. As such, it’s important for auto advertisers to get in front of car shoppers with the correct information and inventory, at the right time.

Google has realised this need and as such, have announced vehicle ads.

Vehicle ads is a new search format on Search that displays nearby cars for sale. Although only in available in the U.S., the new format is expected to roll out to more countries soon.

The premise behind vehicle ads to help marketers more easily reach customers looking for a new beloved vehicle.

For example, if a person searches for a 2019 model SUV for sale, they will will see a handful of car options populate the ad space in the search results page. The listing will also display options to either purchase or get the vehicle delivered, along with some other data, such as:

  • Pictures
  • Inventory
  • Location
  • Make
  • Model
  • Price
  • Mileage

Once a user selects a vehicle, the ad will direct them to the original vehicle listing page on the website. From then on, users can fill out a form or acquire dealership’s contact information.

How Vehicle Ads Work

Marketers need to upload their vehicle data feed to the Google Merchant Center, along with important details about their vehicles, such as make, model, price, mileage, colour, and more.

Thereafter, advertisers will need to create Smart Shopping Campaigns on Google Ads and link their Google Ad account to a Merchant Center account, as well as a Google Business Profile.
