Google Adds New Discovery & Product Listing Options Ahead of the Festive Season

With the festive season fast approaching, and consumers ramping up their shopping, Google has announced a range of new commerce tools for the upcoming holiday push.

As more shoppers lean into the online shopping space, digital-first behaviors are likely to continue as we head into the holidays. As such, Google has added some new discovery and product listing options to help both advertisers and shoppers maximise the success of their festive season shopping efforts.

Highlight Differentiated Fulfillment Options

To grant shoppers more confidence in their online purchasing endeavors, Google has added the option to indicate extended holiday return windows with return annotations such as “Free returns until Jan 31” and “Free 90 day returns”.

Showcase Products More Widely Across Google

Merchants operating on Shopify, WooCommerce or GoDaddy can now effortlessly sync their products to show up on Google for free.

“Seamlessly sync your products to show up on Google for free and boost your products to reach even more shoppers with Smart Shopping campaigns to utilize machine learning, or Shopping campaigns to maximize control.”

You’re now also able to turn your YouTube video into a virtual storefront that showcases your most popular products. How? Simply connect a product feed to either your video action campaigns or to your app campaigns. Advertisers will also be able to link a product feed to Discovery ads, showing more relevant products at more key moments.

Connect With Your Customers in the Physical World

According to Google, “Searches for ‘open now near me’ have grown globally by more than 200% year over year.” As such, advertisers should ensure customers can easily find them online by taking advantage of their Business profile. Furthermore, advertisers are advised to promote products available for in-store pickup or curbside pickup using local inventory ads.
