To help guide you in your content marketing efforts, YouTube is working on a new search insights feature for YouTube Studio that provides search insight information both in relation to your channel and content, as well as for general search queries.
The new feature currently in testing, dubbed ‘Search Insights’ will eventually be available in the Analytics tabs and come housed with two separate tabs for query research.
The first of the tabs will be used to provide a listing of what your viewers are searching for. Think of it as a deeper insight into what people who frequently view your content are also searching for on YouTube.
As for the second tab, ‘Searches Across YouTube’, will enable you to uncover some valuable insight into the most common search queries based on any keyword. If you were interested in knowing what the most frequent searches relating to ‘how to’ on the platform, you could simply enter ‘how to’ as a search term and voila.
YouTube is also adding a capacity filter so that you can filter listings based on search queries that don’t return a high volume of matches. The premise behind this is that by highlighting these queries, creators can focus their efforts on creating content that aligns with certain searches that do not have content that sufficiently fills that gap. Hence the name ‘Content Gap’ marker.
If you narrow the listing to ‘Content Gap only’, the tool will provide you with a list of the most searched terms that are not currently being served by directly aligned videos.
If you’ve been looking for a way to level-up your marketing on YouTube, this tool is going to be extremely valuable in your quest of doing so.
Although the new tool is not live yet, YouTube expects an expanded roll-out shortly.
