YouTube Expands Shorts Fund + Adds New Analytics Tools

The online video sharing giant has announced some new updates, of which include an expansion of its Shorts Fund and addition of new Shorts analytics tools, accessible via YouTube Studio.

In May 2021, YouTube announced that it would provide additional support and motivation to Shorts creators in the form of $100 million that would be paid over the course of two years.

Originally, this funding was only available to Shorts creators in the United States. However, September saw YouTube expand access to 30 additional regions.

Now, YouTube is expanding the eligibility list by adding another 70 regions. Check out the full list below:

YouTube pays out anything between $100 and $10,000 each per month to creators, obviously based on the performance of their Shorts clips. But, it’s great to see a host of new regions, and new creators, now eligible to receive these Shorts bonuses.

Addition of Shorts-specific Analytics

YouTube is also adding another crucial element to YouTube Studio: Shorts analytics. Via the introduction of a new card that displays popular and remixed Shorts clips, creators can get a better idea as to how their clips are performing and better gauge their popularity.

While recent updates to YouTube Shorts are starting to look more and more like TikTok (hint hint, grid view), Shorts has been a winner for YouTube thus far. Shorts clips are now generating over 15 billion global daily views.

It seems that TikTok gave a taste for short-form video content which is now being adopted by every other app in the quest to scratch that itch for their audiences.

With YouTube having such a distinct advantage with its far more refined revenue share system in place for creators, will we see the numbers keep going up for the video sharing platform? I guess we’ll find out.
