Instagram Publishes 1st Edition Trends Report

Aimed at providing a guide to the upcoming trends set to shape culture in 2022, Instagram has published a new trends report that highlights an array of rising movements across various categories.

The report was created in hopes of helping brands and digital marketers to get a better understanding of the key shifts as defined by Gen-Z.

As said by Instagram:

“In order to create this report*, we tapped into the minds of Gen-Z to learn more about the rising Instagram trends across categories including music, fashion, creators and celebs, beauty, social justice, and so much more.

From redefining how they approach education and the idea of a “career,” to maximalist fashion statements, these future-focused audiences are consistently creating the reality they want to live in.”

The new 13-page reports gives a holistic overview of key trends in a few different areas, including:

  • Wellness
  • Memes
  • Fashion
  • Shopping
  • Gaming
  • Beauty
  • Food

And much more.

As you can see below, each topic includes data insight into usage trends and behaviours, while also giving a list of the top hashtags and creators to watch.

Additionally, Instagram has also published a series of video interviews featuring relevant influencers in different genres, providing some more direct insight into the key shifts.

Although TikTok is the current leader in web culture trends, Instagram is still a force to be reckoned with. As such, marketers should take note of the various shifts in consideration going into 2022 and use it to their advantage when developing their social media marketing strategy for the new year.
