Instagram has revolutionised the way people share images and videos. But, as great as the platform is, it’s not perfect. However, it is making strides towards offering more of what users want and expect; a good example of this is launching the ability to post from desktop. But now, Instagram is testing a new option that many users worldwide have been waiting for.
Re-Arrange Your Photo Grid
At one stage or another, every Instagram user has wished they could shuffle their posts within their photo grid around; whether it be to showcase better photos first, or to create a photo split over their grid.
Instagram is currently testing a new option that would allow users to do exactly this – Re-arrange their profile photo grid and format their posted images in whichever sequence they see fit.
As you can see in the example below, posted by a popular app researcher, the new option dubbed ‘Edit Grid’ will be displayed in your profile settings, enabling you to re-arrange your gallery in any order you please, regardless of the order in which each post was published.
If Instagram decide to make this feature accessible to all users, it will serve as a fundamental change to the platform’s long-standing ordering and display process which might be just what the platform needs to continue retaining a loyal user base in the midst of accelerated growth from other platforms.
At the moment, there is no word on whether or not this feature will ever be rolled out. But if it is, it will be a great addition to Instagram’s arsenal.
