There’s no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic caused millions of people to re-evaluate what they wanted out of their careers – globally, employees are rethinking how, when and why they work. Over the past year, millions of people have bid their jobs farewell in search of opportunities that provide a greater sense of purpose.
Dubbed the ‘Great Reshuffle’, this movement has added increased pressure on businesses to rethink the nature of the workplace and how to position them to attract top talent.
With a 54% increase in the number of global LinkedIn members who have changed their jobs year-over-year, there is a prominent talent migration underway. According to LinkedIn’s breakdown report, there was a 3.5% decline in employee happiness globally from October 2020 to October 2021. The pandemic not only turned people’s lives upside down but it forced them to reevaluate where they’re at – and where they want to be. People are recalibrating their priorities and expectations whilst sharpening their skills and pursuing new opportunities.
