Aiding marketers looking to tap into the platform, Snapchat has launched a market research tool dubbed ‘Snapchat Trends‘. In a nutshell – Google Trends, but for Snapchat.
The new tool was designed to assist marketers in conducting research surrounding certain phrases, keywords and terms. Understanding volume within the app around specific keywords can help better inform seasonal campaigns.
According to Snapchat:
“Snapchat Trends highlights the most popular keywords shared with the Snapchat community via public Stories and My Stories that have been viewed by a large group, in addition to a searchable database of terms. With these insights, Snap is able to provide a new level of visibility into organic chatter on Snapchat, looking at what our community is talking about and showcasing popular Snaps that exemplify each trending topic.”
In addition, the new tool gives users some insight into topics that have been trending on Snapchat in the past week:
It’s worth noting that the tool does not include all snap data. Snapchat tells us that the insights generated by the tool are based on “public stories and My Stories that have been viewed by a large group”.
Unfortunately, the tool can only hone down searches to a few specific regions:
- Australia
- United States
- Canada
- United Kingdom
Although South Africa is not on the list, the tool still deems helpful in the sense of providing insights that could prove valuable in the marketing process.
Extending on Snapchat’s Official Certification, it’s clear that Snap is shifting its focus more towards marketers by providing valuable assistance in optimising the way users are reached by brands on the platform.
